1. Paypal Donation website:
Many people have already started inquiring about donating to our trip. Several of these people want to contribute large amounts of money. The safest, easiest way to do this is with a website featuring a paypal donation button. This allows the donor to get a tax deduction, and it makes it easier to keep track of all the money. We have the potential to earn thousands of dollars through the website. But we need your help.
Here's how you can benefit from the website:
We need your bio and a picture. [Some students cannot get permission to run their photos, but the more photos, the more money we can raise. People like to know exactly where their money is going]. Write 1-2 paragraphs about who you are and why you want to go on this trip. Help people to know you.
Without bios and pictures, our group does not seem complete and unified. We want to include as much information about us as possible. We need this information to make the website very appealing. Once created, we can send the links to our friends, family, local businesses, corporations, and people across the United States -- and the world. The link will be available to everyone. My fundraising goal is $4,000, but I need your help. Only those who contribute to the website will get money from it. So, if only 4 people contribute, you each get $1,000 if we reach our goal. It's an extremely easy way to make money.
2. A Walk Up Broadway
The walk was inspired by the PBS documentary "A Walk Up Broadway," which we will try to see before we go.
I'm sure you've heard of the fundraising walk. People want to raise money for something, so they accept pledges to walk a certain amount. We decided to do a fundraising walk for our trip.
Details:
*A Walk Up Broadway, from 14th Street to 110th street
What do do Before: Go to your neighbors, friends and family asking for donations -- with a suggested donation of $10. [Gladly accept anything, though]. Explain what you are going to do and why.
Ask your friends if they want to join you for the walk. If they join you, they should get at least 2 pledges from one of THEIR friends.
Trip members and chaperones will be fundraising and walking on this trip which will begin at 5pm one weeknight in or August. It should take 4-5 hours, depending on our speed.
Why: We can raise some money and have fun with friends and trip members. We'll also learn a lot about the city as we walk up Broadway, through many neighborhoods. Most people do not get to see the city this way. We can stop for food, ice cream, drinks, etc. We'll also take lots of pictures which we can put on the website with your parents' permission.
We hope each walker will fundraise $20 - $50 for this walk.
